Outdoor Classroom

Our outdoor environments boast beautiful shade trees, lots of room for children to run and explore freely, and wonderful outdoor spaces for imaginative and creative play!

"There must be provision for the child to have contact with nature; to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in nature."

~ Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori placed great emphasis on the child's contact with nature and believed that each Montessori classroom should have access to an "Outdoor Classroom".

We therefore created outdoor environments attached to each classroom to allow for a natural flow into the outdoors, as an extension of our indoor environments.

Our Outdoor Classroom for both Toddler & Casa programs include:

  • Natural Play Structures: a variety of climbing trees, wooden balance beams, and rope swings that promote physical activity and coordination

  • Gardening Areas: Raised beds where children can plant, nurture, and harvest vegetables and flowers, teaching them about ecology and responsibility.

  • Water Play Tables & Water Pump: Water play provides opportunities for math exploration, science experimentation, and imaginative play

'Mango Tree Path'

A tranquil zone with a bench and books for reading and relaxation amidst nature. This area is also used for class lessons, outdoor story time, and even birthday celebrations. Our 'Mango Tree Path' gets its name from the huge mango tree that produces mangoes near the end of each school year!

Additional activities such as watering plants, gardening, sensory/nature tables, yoga, washing linens and hanging them out on a line, and making birdseed to fill the bird feeders; are all made available for the children and much much more!
